The format
Since 2024-25 the competition starts with a single 36-team league. Each club plays eight different opponents; the top eight go straight to the last 16, and the clubs placed 9th to 24th play a knockout play-off round. That means more games involving English clubs in the autumn than under the old group stage.
The move to Paramount+
Paramount+ won the main UK rights for the cycle starting in 2027-28. Expect the TNT goals show and studio line-up to change, and check which subscription you need before next August.
