⚡Quick verdict
LG sets take their apps from the LG Content Store: install a player such as IBO Player there, then use the MAC address and key it shows to add your log-in on the player's website. LG's webOS, like Samsung's Tizen, only runs store apps, so there is no sideloading. Sets from about 2018 with webOS 4 or later work best.
- The Content Store is under Apps on newer models and LG Content Store on older ones.
- Store players usually have a free week, then a small activation fee.
- Magic Remote pointing makes typing far easier than arrow keys.
Step 1: find the player
- Press the Home button (house icon).
- Open Apps or LG Content Store.
- Search for your player, for example IBO Player, and install it.
Step 2: get the device details
Open the player. It shows the TV’s MAC address and a device key. Photograph the screen.
Step 3: add your log-in
- On your phone or computer, go to the player’s website and its device or playlist page.
- Enter the MAC address and key.
- Add your Xtream Codes details (server, username, password) or the M3U link.
- On the TV, close the player fully and reopen it.
Step 4: set it up for your home
- Put the channels you watch most in Favourites.
- Set the guide’s time shift to zero if programme times look an hour out; the server usually handles UK time.
- Turn on parental control in the player if children use the TV. See parental PIN.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Content Store missing | Check the TV’s country is set to United Kingdom |
| Sound but no picture | Switch the player’s decoder setting; see no picture or sound |
| Activation expired | That is the player’s fee, not your Telly Hub plan |

More questions
How do I find my LG TV's webOS version?
Settings, then All Settings, Support (or General), TV Information. Versions from webOS 4 run current players well.
Can I use the Magic Remote to type?
Yes. Point and click on the on-screen keyboard, which is much quicker than arrow keys. Better still, add the log-in from your phone on the player's website.
The app is slow with all the channels. Can I speed it up?
Hide channel groups you do not need, and turn off film and series loading if the player allows it. Older LG processors struggle with very large lists.
